Talk about a frustrating day! I lost my first match by triangle at the Pan tournament.  I was definitely not on my A-game, but at least I learned about things I need to work on to improve.  I’m in the last half of my quarter at school, and things have been hectic over the last week.  The tournament was on a Thursday (had to miss a stats class in order to compete, and had to go to another class right after competing for a finals review)…I had two papers due the Tuesday before, I had a stats homework due at 5 pm on the same day as the tournament, and I have finals next week.  Due to school, I was lucky to make bjj practice 1-2 times per week…definitely not ideal for getting ready for Pans.  I was able to drill at least for a little bit ~ 4 days per week.  Plus…I didn’t have my usually coaches with me.  Anthony was way up in the stands, and Giva was out of town to coach for my teammate Carla Esparza for her UFC fight.  I was grateful to have our Lotus Club black belt, Mo, coach for me.  But I’m not used to hearing his voice on the sidelines, so I wasn’t so good at listening for him.  #rookiemistake

Anyway, I learned that I need to work on passing closed guard! I also need to be a little more patient when executing techniques.  Win or learn, right?! I’m very lucky to have been healthy enough to compete, so I don’t really have too much to complain about.

I can’t wait for the summer when I won’t have school!! I’m gonna do 2-a-days all. the. time. 🙂
